Smokey's in the distance,
Cove Bay, Anguilla

Update 2018: Smokey's is currently closed.

Reggae music echoing in the background. Soft waves rolling into shore. Bright sun shining down on us...

This is Smokey's, located on Cove Bay. It's a low key restaurant right on the beach. The perfect place to have lunch.

We walked in wondering what to expect and saw many locals. That, in of itself, told us this was going to be a good meal. As soon as the waitress saw us, she gave us beach chairs for lounging on this Anguilla beach.

My sister and I swam in the ocean, but soon our dad called us in for lunch. We sat at a table right on the beach. When we were given our menus, I didn't have to read the whole menu to know what I wanted... a grilled chicken sandwich. I sat wondering if this meal would be as good as the setting.

Pretty soon a delicious looking plate was placed in front of me with a perfectly grilled chicken breast between a fluffy bun, with fresh tomatoes and lettuce. The rest of family, who had ordered burgers, sensed my excitement and asked for a taste. As soon as I plunged my teeth into the tender chicken, I knew this was the best I had ever tasted in Anguilla. It came with fries and the chicken can be grilled or smoked. We have been vacationing in Anguilla for 10 years, so that says a lot. Smokey's lunch is delicious and with a friendly staff this is something you shouldn't miss.

Nori's Reply: Thank you for sharing your delicious lunch experience, Eliza. Our family have had many a great lunch and dinner at Smokey's.

Smokey's at The Cove on Sunday's is a real treat with live music, beach activities like volley ball or just taking in the sun and sand on another great Anguilla beach. The wave action is gentle and Cove Bay has one of the shallowest beaches in Anguilla. You can walk into the ocean onto a soft, sandy floor for quite a distance.

As well as lunch, Smokey's is open for dinner. The outside deck allows you to dine right on the beach and with the lights of St. Martin in the background at night, dinner couldn't be more pretty... or scrumptious. They have an extensive dinner menu from pasta to steaks to lobster or fish. Just about anything for every taste and it is all mouth watering.

Smokey's at The Cove is another great Anguilla dining experience, open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Call 264-497-6582 for reservations.

Smokey's is A Great Sport
by: Albert B.

Our group lodging in the Paradise Cove walk to this Restaurant, and had a well prepared dinner. It's right on the beach and I guess that in the daytime it's also open, because after my swim in the clean blue/green looking water, I went to Smokey's for a beer. Coming back to our dinner, the driver gave us a "lift" down and also up. Great food. Honestly to recommend.

Dinner on The Beach, Under the Stars
by: Leslie

Our favorite evening in Anguilla was the night we had dinner with friends at Smokey's at The Cove.

The food was fabulous, but the setting was even better. The peaceful sound of splashing waves, a tropical breeze, twinkling stars in the night sky and the beautiful reggae music of Omari Banks made for an evening that was close to perfect.

So Typical 'Island'
by: Yoko & Geoff

We did our last evening there and found that dinner menu really had no ribs, jerk chicken or much seafood. All stuff we associated Smokey's with. After all his ribs at the BBQ were superb!

When we noticed they had all of that on the lunch menu and mentioned it to the delightful young lady, she said no problem, order whatever you want.

The ribs were wonderful again as we watched the lights of St. Maartens twinkle in the distance.

One funny little thing was when I ordered a marguerita, she asked how it was as she hadn't made one in a long time. That is a rather refreshing approach to customer service.

It was fine and we discussed an idea or two for 'next time' too!

Curried Goat
by: Rayven

We decided to take the plunge and go to Smokey's on our last day in Anguilla. A lunch with a family of four (and a bottle of wine) came out to be around $100, which was average for the area. The food was great! We had the curried goat and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in trying this local dish. The coleslaw was awesome and we had to get seconds.

The fact that this restaurant is hidden on the beach with one of the most breathtaking views you've ever seen just gives you this sense of wonder while there, like you've entered an entirely different world where the chaos of regular life cannot penetrate.

Have a couple bottles of wine with your favorite people and just enjoy the view.

*This restaurant is within walking distance of the Paradise Cove Resort.

Smokey's at the Cove
by: steve

Been there many times as we've been regulars on the Island since 2002.

We found the service and food inconsistent and with its high prices, Smokey's is a hit or miss lunch.

But you're right... you can't beat the location or the view.
