Playa de Monsul in Almeria (Spain)

Playa de Monsul

My favorite beach in the world is 'Playa de Monsul'. It is located in the province of Almeria in Southern Spain, in the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata-Nijar.

In fact this Natural Park is Spain's best kept secret: a moonlike volcano landscape, with lava cliffs and long, black sandy beaches. Mind you, Steven Spielberg discovered the Monsul Beach and used it as a back drop in his movie: Indiana Jones.

Nori, if you'll ever have the chance I recommend you to visit Cabo de Gata. It is an awesome place full of off the beaten track beaches and hidden coves. The interior of this Natural Park is scattered with wild plants and cactuses.

Saludos from Spain!

P.S. I would like to thank you for your wonderful site.

Nori's Reply: Christina, thank you so much for those kind words. And thank you, too, for sharing Playa de Monsul. I love the "postcard" image you included, too.

I certainly looks otherworldly, moonlike. I have never been to Spain. But when I do, I hope to run into you Cabo de Gata. It sounds spectacular.
