Who's Open in Anguilla's Slow Season?

By August, Anguilla begins its transition into the island's true off-season. Carnival has come and gone, many businesses take their annual break, and the island settles back into that wonderfully quiet rhythm we love.



But, not everything is closed! There are still plenty of places to eat, beaches to explore and things to do.

Among them are Aurora's D Richard's, Elvis' Beach Bar, Nat's Palm Grove, Ocean Echo, Savi Beach Club, Tasty's POV, Tipsy Turtle and Tropical Sunset.

Here is a list of businesses that remain open throughout the season and when others reopen.



So if you're thinking about an off-season escape, don't assume Anguilla has gone to sleep just yet.

Aurora Anguilla: The Resort May Be Quiet, But...

As Anguilla settles into its quieter months, Aurora Anguilla has settled its seasonal transition - but that doesn't mean everything comes to a stop.

The Merrywing side has closed for the season and will reopen November 1, while the Rendezvous side is reopening October 16.

But even during the resort's closure, two Aurora favorites will continue to welcome guests and visitors: D Richard's and the International Golf Course.



D Richard's will continue serving lunch Thursday through Sunday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

So if you're looking for a leisurely lunch or an evening out during the quieter months, you can still enjoy one of Aurora's signature dining spots.



And for the golfers, the International Course, Golf Shop, Golf Academy and practice facilities remain open Thursday through Sunday from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM through October 15.

The Avalon Links Course and its Golf Shop will be closed during this period.



In other words, while the resort itself takes a little seasonal breather, there's still a reason to make your way to Aurora!



And before you know it, the island will be gearing up for another festive season. Aurora has already released its 2026 Festive Calendar, so if you're thinking ahead to Christmas and New Year's in Anguilla, it's a good time to start looking at what's in store.

Recap of the 2026 Summer Festival: The Boats, The Music & The Parade

Every August, Anguilla comes alive for the Summer Festival, filling the island with music, dancing, colorful costumes, beach parties and plenty of boat racing.

The boat races are a particularly special part of the celebration. Anguilla's traditional wooden sailboats head out onto the water throughout Carnival week, with crowds gathering along the beaches to cheer on their favorites.

From the August Monday races to the final Champion of Champions, the races are as much about the atmosphere and island camaraderie as they are about the competition.



And then there is the Grand Parade of Troupes...



This Carnival attraction is all about vibrant, flamboyant colors and visually striking costumes. Different troupes dance and celebrate through the island's capital, interacting with the crowds and performing on-the-fly choreography.



The streets are alive with dancing, and local soca music can be heard for miles. Anyone is welcome to watch, or even join in the parade.

After Carnival, Anguilla returns to its quiet, serene self. But the memories of the festivities linger long after the last costume has been packed away. Until next year's Carnival, Anguillans will look forward to the next time they can come together to celebrate their island's culture and heritage.

Manoah: A Beachfront Stay on Shoal Bay East

Dinner Above Crocus Bay at Blue Bar

Perched above Crocus Bay, Blue Bar is open-air, relaxed and wonderfully positioned for sunset. As the sky changes from bright Caribbean blue to shades of orange, pink and violet, the view becomes part of the evening.



And, we all know that taking in that view is best enjoyed with a specialty Blue Bar cocktail! ;-)

We tried three very different drinks: an Aperol Spritz, a shaken Classic Daiquiri and a Paloma with a special dash of Ting.



Next up? Pizza!

We ordered the pepperoni pizza, finished with crushed black pepper and a brushing of olive oil on the crust.

Hot, cheesy and satisfying, it had a nicely crisp crust and plenty of flavor from the pepperoni. The crushed black pepper gave it an extra little kick.



Prepared in Blue Bar's open kitchen and baked in their large brick oven, pizzas come out hot and ready to eat. Sitting just feet away from the oven, there's no time for them to go cold!

First bite of a Blue Bar pizza pie? Just right, with savory toppings and a thin, crisp crust.

The setting is as beautiful as ever. The sea views are breathtaking, and Blue Bar is a wonderful place to sit back, order something delicious and enjoy an evening above Crocus Bay.
