Mahogany Grove Church, Long Bay, Anguilla

Mahogany Grove Lutheran Church

The Mahogany Grove Lutheran Church, located today in the Long Bay Area of Anguilla, just North of Malliouhana Hotel, has had a colorful and interesting past.

It has played an important role as it relates to Christian Service for tourists as well as to the Local Residents of Anguilla.

This church is known as a "Home Church," meaning that the Pastors are visiting unpaid Pastors. Every third week is a different pastor and yes, the pastor will be repeated from time to time. But that makes it very interesting as I have heard some excellent services conducted here.

I was fortunate to meet the daughters of the founder and builder of this beautiful church. I say fortunate as the senior daughter passed away one year after my interview with the daughters of Edmond Hodge.

"A picture is worth a thousand words." Yes, I agree with that. Here is one of those pictures. Enjoy it!

Nori's Reply: Dr. Morgan, this is indeed a wonderful hidden gem in Anguilla. When you're in Anguilla, it is a peaceful area to come and meditate.

Your interior photo is beautiful. Here is another photo of this perfect tiny church from the outside...

Dr. Morgan, I can't thank you enough for sharing this special Anguilla place with everyone.

Delightful
by: Vicki/Jerry

This is our first visit to the island. We stumbled onto this lovely little church and decided to attend today. It was a packed house. Everyone was so friendly. The pastor was wonderful even though he is not Lutheran. After service all were invited for cookies and punch outside under the shade. All in all it was a wonderful morning! Don't miss this even if you are not Lutheren.

I'm one of the visiting pastors and services are here e dry Sunday. As Lutherans we welcome all for worship and communion. We strive to bring a Gospel that is relevant to your life and will hopefully stimulate you to think and question. Services are at 9:30 each Sunday,

I can't tell when this article was written, but we attended church services there last winter. I am not sure the Lutheran church still occupies the building--do you know?
