Celebs on Anguilla...
The Stars Come Out

Picture this pleasant scenario...

You're having lunch in a burger place. You look around and you see Liam Neeson, Ethan Hawk, and Uma Thurman. You must be in Johnny Rockets in Beverly Hills, California, right?

You return home... your neighbors are Robin Williams, Robert De Niro, and Billy Crystal. You live in a Bel Air mansion, right?

Wrong, in both cases!

You are on vacation in the Caribbean island of Anguilla!

During the Christmas 2002 holiday, my Dad's friend, Doug, who has the villa that we stayed at, was enjoying the fantastic weather, food, and hospitality of Anguilla! And so were the likes of Robin Williams, Robert De Niro, Billy Crystal, Kevin Bacon, Richard Dreyfus, Liam Neeson, Ethan Hawk, Uma Thurman (and probably many, many, more!).

How do I know? My spies!

Doug wrote us frequently -- Robin Williams, Robert De Niro, Billy Crystal were his neighbors... yes, next-door neighbours, on both sides of his villa! And I received reports about the others (gee, I should be a gossip columnist!).

Here's the best part -- all the celebs came back to Barnes Bay Beach for a group photo with Doug!...

Here are just a few of Doug's "on the spot" updates...

I was out with the flippers and snorkle just heading up and down the beach front looking at all the wonderful fish and coral and so on. When I came up to look around, I was in front of the house next door and a bunch of people had arrived. Actually a horde of kids and all were swimming out in front of the house. As I worked my way in, there was a chap in the water. We chatted for a bit and then it hit me. It was Robin Williams. I guess the celebs are arriving.

Last night it was quite a scene as the Robin Willams horde made their way down the beach, all in their dress gowns to head over to the big Cerulean house for a De Niro evening

Ran into Kevin Bacon on Scilly Cay today and the Dreyfess man was on Scilly this afternoon as well -- I didn't even know he was there until Sharon happened to mention it passing once she got back later. Gee.....this place attracts them like little bugs......better watch out for Jaws!

Now, about those other three celebs, (Liam Neeson, Ethan Hawk, Uma Thurman). Steve Rothdram, a resident of Anguilla, wrote me to tell me all about these other heavenly celebrities!

If you like star gazing, I was at Ernies having lunch yesterday and so were Liam Neeson, Ethan Hawk and Uma Thurman. The only one I may have recognized without being told may have been Liam Neeson. Dave from Mango's brought them there, but it was cool seeing them eating at Ernies.

I can't blame all these famous faces for coming to Anguilla! It has everything, the "movie star" quality food, weather and of course beaches! They go to Cannes to be seen, but to Anguilla, this special little Caribbean island, to disappear, I guess.

Unfortunately, our family wasn't there with the celebs in December, so we only have this one photo of Doug and the stars!

OK, OK, I made the photo up. But they really were all there, and Doug really did have Hollywood neighbours.
